30 Years Later…

Last week I celebrated 30 years in the United States. I arrived in New York from London, England with a lot of bright sparkly hopes and dreams. Many of those dreams did not pan out. Life did not turn out as planned {far from it}.  I had hoped to be a lot further along in my life than I am today.

I married my sweetheart from my hometown of London {we emigrated together}, got divorced 5 years later; spent close to 20 years in the entertainment industry which allowed me to travel a good portion of the world.

What I’ve learned, especially over the last few years, is that life happens and I am OK with it, I’ve made mistakes and I’m OK with those too.  I no longer beat myself up.  There are a lot of things beyond my control and even with the best-laid plans, life has its own ideas. With all the trials, blood, sweat and tears I have gone through I am still here. Therefore, in my eyes, it means that the very best is yet to come!

You’ll see “the best is yet to come” a lot on my blog because I used to be the woman who would tear her hair out, go crazy and have fits of depression which would last for months because someone or something disappointed me. NOT ANYMORE!

I am now able to look back and honestly say to all the challenges and disappointments… THANK YOU! If I were to meet them on the street, instead of a Jamaican side-eye, I would truly say from my heart… THANK YOU!

Because of them, I have evolved into the woman you see today, mentally STRONG, CONFIDENT and ABLE. With the grace of God, I am still standing and will continue to do so.

I don’t know if I’ll remain in the U.S. another 30 years, but what I will say is no matter where I am on this planet… I will SOAR

My anthem is “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan, which you can find in the sidebar. This song has been my anthem for years… Click and Enjoy and be Every Woman

30 Years Later...

This is the perfect time to spread my wings
