A New York City State of Mind… 48 Hours in The Big Apple

New York, New York, so fabulous they had to name it twice!

New York City

It’s always bittersweet when I visit New York.  I lived there for 15 years and moved 10 years ago, how I wished I’d never left!  The thing is life happens and we go with the flow. This weekend in New York was simply amazing.  I met up with InstaDarling Felicia {@fdettmer} who has become a good friend and supporter in this blogging world.

Walking the streets of Manhattan brings back great memories for me; My many years in the entertainment industry; being my first home after immigrating from London, England.  I know New York City is smelly, awful traffic, noisy and super crowded, but there is nothing like the New York City Vibe.

I stayed at the Affinia Shelburne on Lexington Avenue in the Murray Hill neighbourhood; nice size room (for NY) comfy bed, not much to talk about as I was barely in it! I will say it does have a nice rooftop bar with decent views of the city and delicious cocktails.

Wondering what’s out there in those NYC streets!

$10 Sunnies from outside Eataly ~ First purchase of the weekend!

If you’re looking for somewhere great to eat, definitely stop at Eataly located opposite the Flat Iron building. Eataly is a market/restaurant/delicatessen, a smorgasbord of fresh goodies making your eyes wander everywhere as you don’t know what to look at first.  Felicia and I ate at the bar of Manzo restaurant, which was the best decision because we saw the delicious food being prepared and plated, everything looked delicious.

We also ate at Rare which is attached to the Shelburne hotel, if you’re into burgers order the M&M you can thank me later.

Linguine with Poached Maine Lobster… Delish!!

Saturday morning stroll around the corner to 37th Street for my coconut milk mocha latte.

The reason for this trip was to attend high tea at the spectacular Baccarat Hotel hosted by Ms. Felicia herself… Oh, how grand it was! The chandeliers in the Petit Salon were simply stunning. Tea was scrumptious, sconces with real clotted cream, petit fours, tiny sandwiches and of course different varieties of teas, but what really made this event truly special, were the new friends I made, simply amazing women, doing their own thing, claiming it and loving it.

It was an incredible feeling to be at an event where women were supporting women and all of us looking fabulous while doing it.
